ExerFlexer for Health!
How the VersaPed (R) Became the ExerFlexer (R)
A series of coincidences involving the health of family and friends, has led me to become involved with a valuable tool called the ExerFlexer. My friend Suzanne, a scientist who invented and patented the VersaPed (R), originally designed it as a foot pedal to be used with her patented non-electric breast pump system. (You can see this breast pump system on her website: http://www.breastpumpmama.com ). Now, because a number of her clients have been using the VersaPed as a multi-purpose tool, for foot health as well as part of a breast pump system, almost since she invented it more than a dozen years ago, she has adapted the VersaPed so that it can also be used as the ExerFlexer — a way that anyone can help exercise and thus protect the health of their feet, toes, calves and ankles.
Helping to Treat a Health Curse That Affects Millions
A scourge, a debilitating and ultimately fatal medical condition, is sweeping older and sedentary members of our population. The baby boomer's parents have suffered form it, and now it is time for the baby boomer generation to also be afflicted. Studies have been done by a number of reputable medical researchers that have found it may be possible to help keep better circulation going to the feet and toes, thus relieving the symptoms and possibly avoiding the syndrome by using a foot pedal similar, in principle, to the ExerFlexer! Almost everyone knows someone who has succumbed to this type of foot discomfort and its resulting illnesses The medical term associated with part of the trouble is: "Peripheral vascular disease," and, yes, it can be fatal. The trouble starts when one's toes and feet are not getting enough circulation. This is often caused by simply sitting in one place for too long. This can happen on a long plane flight, or just sitting at the computer, like most of you are doing right now. After several hours, the feet, toes, and calves are badly affected by sitting in one place. There is a short-term danger when a person sits in one place for too long, and doesn't get to move one's feet, and that's from blood clots forming and causing strokes and heart attacks in some people. This is what makes lengthy plane flights especially dangerous, and its not only the elderly who can be affected. And it isn't just plane flights, commuter trains, etc., that cause this risk. Limited blood flow to the extremities can cause serious problems over a period of time.. to the toes, especially.
Such a Common Problem, People Don't Even Think About It!
In my family, an infected baby toe on my father's foot led to months of visits to a podiatrist, and the recommended daily soakings in hot water filled with Epsom salts, as well as constant and prolonged antibiotics. But the toe did not really get better, and after six months of visits to the podiatrist, it was recommended the bone be removed from the toe. This was done, but days later, an amputation of that toe was called for. While in hospital for this operation, the doctors discovered another ailment, possibly caused by six months of antibiotics, an ailment which killed my father a few months later. If the toe had stayed in good shape, if no visit to a foot doctor had been necessary, this tragedy would not have happened.
At this time, the father of a very good friend is in the hospital with a similar ailment, facing possible foot amputation. The underlying cause for the prospective amputation is that the foot has not had enough exercise. A little bruise has not healed, mainly because of a lack of blood flow to the area, and there is a possibility of gangrene setting in. At this point, since I and my friends have seen repeated similar cases, it has become obvious how dangerous it is to neglect the exercise of the feet and toes. It seems obvious that blood flow to that part of the body must be maintained for good health!
ExerFlexer (R) Helps Avoid the Problem!
It is with this fact in mind, that I want to help promote my friend Suzanne's new "ExerFlexer" foot pedal, a bold advance in the science of foot exercise. Her patented VersaPed (R) pedal creates resistance, which other foot exercise pedals do not, or do very insufficiently. The original purpose of the VersaPed (R) was to drive a bellows-type action that would force a suction effect in operating the foot-powered breast pump. To do this, a certain pressure must be applied to the pedal. This pressure is enough to increase the blood flow to the foot and to really stimulate the foot, toes, calves, and ankles.
When you press down and then release the pressure on the ExerFlexer pedal, the calf muscles contract and relax, again and again. This is a great tool for building-up the calf muscles generally, and helpful even to athletes and sports enthusiasts who want to exercise while they are sitting in front of the computer or TV.
Great Exercise Tool for Young & Healthy People, Too!
There is no question that an ExerFlexer would be of great benefit to ALL older people, and also anyone, of any age, who sits in one place for much of the time. Airplane pilots and passengers or people who commute via commuter trains or in carpools, etc., should take along their ExerFlexer so they don't miss out on some good foot, ankle and leg exercises while traveling!
Video Coming Soon! But Get More Info, Now!
There are additional uses for the ExerFlexer, such as rhythmic compression to get better muscle tone in many parts of the body. We will be putting-out a video soon that will show some of the many uses to which ExerFlexer can be put!
The ExerFlexer is flat so that ANY sized foot can fit on it. It has ridges so the foot won't slip off while using it. It can be used barefoot, or while wearing socks, stockings or shoes. It is of a very sturdy plastic construction, and it comes in an attractive purple color! (See Illustration below!)
WHO WOULDN'T be interested in the ExerFlexer? We certainly hope YOU are interested! If you or the person who would be using the ExerFlexer has an existing circulation or foot or toe problem, of course it would be a good idea to discuss using the ExerFlexer with your doctor or other professional. it is possible that the repetitive motion of pumping the foot pedal might aggravate an existing condition, so in the event of ANY QUESTION as to the medical advisability of using the ExerFlexer, we urge you to contact a medical professional such as a doctor or podiatrist before using one. Would you like to receive more information and possibly BUY an ExerFlexer? The ExerFlexer is NOT expensive. It is sturdy and can last for many years of use. ANYONE can benefit from using one. Would you like to enlist as an AFFILIATE and help save lives by SELLING this very useful and timely tool to others? Please let me know by writing me at: ed@edaugusts.com and I will pass on your query and your concerns to my friend Suzanne, the inventive genius who put the VersaPed (R), now also known as the ExerFlexer (R), on the market where it can help so many! THANK YOU! —Ed Augusts
